Set Up Alipay/WeChat Pay (Foreign Card Guide)

Hey! First rule in China: your phone is your wallet. Here’s how to set yours up in 10 mins.

It's essential. Used everywhere—from street food to metros. Many places don’t take cash，so it’s your key to food delivery, bills, transport, and more.

Alipay vs WeChat Pay
Get both.
🇦 Alipay: More foreigner-friendly. Use as your main wallet.
🇼 WeChat Pay: Built into chat—great for splitting bills.

Setup Guide
Your Need: Foreign phone #, passport, Visa/Mastercard.

For Alipay:

Download app →Register with overseas # →Verify: Go to Me > profile > verify with passport →Add card under Bank Cards.

For WeChat Pay:

Verify WeChat account with passport first (Me > Settings) →Go to Me > Services > Wallet to add card.
